| Background | I am currently working at the Centralized Equipment Pool (CEP) as a Clinical Education Coordinator. This position involves education and training for 22 AAC Clinics in Ontario and research in the area of AAC device use. One of the primary initiatives at CEP has been to develop and run an online course for new professionals working in AAC. This course has been well received and in 2007 was granted the Power of Possibility Award from Bloorview Kids Rehab. I also work as an Occupational Therapist on the AAC team at Communication and Writing Aids, Bloorview Kids Rehab. I have worked in the area of AAC and assistive technology for over 15 years. My clinical caseload is currently situated within the Toronto area and previously was on outreach teams to Simcoe and Sault Ste. Marie areas. My education and research role at CEP, along with my clinical background at Bloorview provides me with a perspective of AAC clinical practice in Ontario. I feel that this would add a unique perspective to the role of Regional Representative for ISAAC Canada. |
